North - Selby
The Group’s northern rail freight terminal and distribution centre in Selby provides around 30,600m² (330,000ft²) of high quality warehousing, with offices and room to expand on a secure, 62-acre site.Extensive racked storage is designed for multi-line order picking, with block stacking for bulk storage. Other facilities include customs bonded zones, secure external compounds and purpose designed food grade buildings.
Selby is fully equipped with modern mechanical handling equipment such as forklift trucks with reel, drum and carton clamps, and electric models for handling foodstuffs.
Daily rail services bring freight from across the UK and mainland Europe to Selby for storage or distribution by road. The centre can handle palletised and bulk products, aggregates and grain, and can accommodate classic wagon, container and intermodal traffic.
Specialist rail freight services on site include shunting locomotives, intermodal handling equipment, bulk discharge, and covered areas for unloading high capacity freight wagons.
Selby also provides specialist food storage facilities for handling raw materials in bulk through to palletised retail containers.
Surplus material management and recycling
The centre currently handles paper, card and plastics for Selby District Council, using the latest baling technology. For further information click here.
