Potter Group raises training standards with commitment to Government Skills Pledge
Road and rail logistics provider The Potter Group has signed up to government's Skills Pledge. An initiative from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, the Pledge is a way for progressive companies to publicly demonstrate their commitment to excellence in training and staff development.
The company's current training policy and standards already exceed the qualifying criteria. However with further backing from local Business Link offices and adviser support it intends to further improve the scope and quality of training throughout the company.
Melina Crookall, the company's HR manager, explained: "Our business depends totally on the skills, commitment and professionalism of our staff in providing outstanding service and the Skills Pledge is an excellent way to confirm our continuing commitment to training. Several of our senior managers have risen through the ranks with assistance from vocational training courses both internal and external and out attitude towards staff development has helped keep staff motivated and to stay with the company."
Some of the current training programmes in force include internal and external NVQ courses and Lloyd auditing training. With a specific focus on Health and Safety, more than 85% of staff hold a relevant H & S qualification.
