Potter Group upgrades container management technology
The Potter Group's Selby distribution centre has recently upgraded its multi-modal facilities to provide more efficient and accurate container movements and management.
As well as resurfacing the container pad to the latest standards, the company has invested in new rugged tablet PCs to provide wireless communication between the Selby office and the container pad. New all-weather Trimble Yuma tablet devices use bespoke software to transfer data into The Potter Group's own warehouse management system (WMS).
With enhanced data capture, the company's own WMS will automatically allocate locations and generate invoices. The tablet's software allows signatures to be captured on arrival and dispatch of each container as POD information, which is immediately available for viewing via a link on The Potter Group's website.
One of The Potter Group's five distribution centres, Selby provides around 30,600m2 (330,000ft2) of high quality rail connected warehousing on a secure, 62-acre site, within easy reach of the M62 and A1(M) motorways.
