Ely Centre is sweeter now Trident Foods are back
Livestock feed materials leader Trident Feeds has selected the Group’s Ely Distribution Centre for storage and distribution of bulk sugar beet feeds, shipped in from British Sugar’s Wissington’s factory. Trident Feeds was a major client of the Group’s Northern Centre in Ripon some years ago so their return is particularly welcome.
Trident is one of the country's top names in animal feed supply, with other products including distillers feeds, liquid, and moist and dried animal feeds, marketing in excess of 1.2 million tonnes of high profile feed products.
Full 29 tonne tipper loads are being collected from BS Wissington by Potter Group transport and brought to Ely where some 4,300 tonnes of bulk feed fully occupies a dedicated warehouse.
In line with industry best practice, the facilities comply with international HACCP (Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point) standards, AB Agri Ltd Storing and Handling Requirements for Animal Feed Materials, and DEFRA requirements.
Potter Group staff load road vehicles with feed for despatch to farms, either onto the farmers’ own vehicles, or onto Group transport, which operates under the AIC (TASCC) Code of Practice for Road Haulage. Group staff are also responsible for all feed movement administration including goods-in and dispatch records and documentation.
When the Group business was set up back in1965 its first contract was for storing bulk grain and fertiliser, so it has a long and distinguished history in bulk goods, including chemicals and feedstuffs.
