Potter Group Executive Chairman joins David Blunkett MP for Yorkshire Charity's big day
Derrick Potter, Potter Group executive chairman, joined David Blunkett MP to celebrate the opening of Henshaw College’s new state-of-the-art accommodation suite in Harrogate, Yorkshire, on the 7th March. The Potter Group is a long-standing supporter of the College, which is a leading education provider for visually impaired and disabled students, and has raised many thousands of pounds in support including a £5,000 donation in 2007 towards the building programme. The MP, who has been blind since birth, cut the ribbon to officially open the recently completed residential block. Nidd House will cater for 22 students and has been partly funded thanks to the support of local companies, schools and other individuals through the charity’s Buy-a-Brick appeal, which has raised more than £100,000.
Derrick Potter commented: “We have always tried to support local charities, and like our company, Henshaws has contacts in various parts of the country. All our five distribution centres have adopted students and have raised money from activities as varied as writing a book and running half marathons. We look forward to the College’s Annual Ball each year and to continuing our support for such an important and worthwhile charity.”
