Potter Group and UKWA complete joint pilot chemical storage training course
The Potter Group recently organised a two-day training and familiarisation workshop on hazardous cargo handling, in conjunction with the United Kingdom Warehouse Association (UKWA). Delegates attended sessions at two of the Group’s specialist chemical storage facilities in Ripon and Droitwich to be initiated into the mysteries of COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations), BASIS (British Agricultural Standards Inspection Scheme) and DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations).Ian Kidd of The Potter Group commented: “Recent changes mean that a lot more companies are affected by the various types of legislation in force, and with our lengthy experience in chemical logistics we thought it would be helpful to the industry to provide some guidelines. As members of UKWA it made sense to organise the sessions with their support and we would be keen to know if there is interest in an extended programme in 2008.”
