Arch Chemicals appoints Potter Group Logistics to handle product distribution for its UK supply chain
Potter Group has won a contract to handle the storage, order preparation, shipment and delivery of Arch Chemicals' products. Under the two-year contract, Potter Group Logistics's Ripon and Droitwich centres will receive products shipped from Arch Chemicals' facilities in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, the Americas and Asia. Arch will work with Potter Group Logistics and other service providers to dispatch orders from customers in the UK and overseas.Potter Group Logistics will hold around 5,000 pallets of Arch products and will pick full pallet, part pallet and single pack consignments. Potter Group Logistics's own vehicle fleet, supplemented as required by associate contractors, is handling transport into Arch facilities as well as UK customer dispatches.
Arch Chemicals' European Supply Chain Manager Simon Purdy commented that the decision to expand the service "reflects Potter Group Logistics's capability to provide customer-focused services while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance. Consolidation and a service partnership with the Group gives Arch leverage on pricing and greater focus in managing operational standards."
Potter Group Logistics has invested in five new specialised material handling units from Linde as well as additional staff to handle the additional work. Both Droitwich and Ripon centres are fully equipped to handle hazardous materials in accordance with local, national and international safety legislation and standards.
